EmploymentCrossing, the premier job-opening research institution, has launched CounselingCrossing, a new website dedicated entirely to providing jobs to counseling professionals. The site seeks to list every counseling job opening in the United States by monitoring jobs posted on every job board, career website, and employer homepage its researchers can locate. The types of jobs in the counseling industry are many, ranging from counseling managers to psychiatric counselors, from mental health counselors to vocational counselors.
Pasadena, CA — Counselors assist people in solving personal, familial, educational, mental health, and career problems. Their duties vary greatly depending on the type of occupational specialty they possess, which is typically determined by their educational backgrounds, the settings in which they work, and the populations they serve.
CounselingCrossing, the newly launched offering from EmploymentCrossing, aspires to list all kinds of counseling jobs, including details on career advancement opportunities and employment information related to the industry. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), counselors held 635,000 jobs in 2006. Overall, jobs in the counseling profession are expected to increase by an incredible 21% between 2006 and 2016, although the rates of increase will likely vary according to specialty. Employment for vocational and school counselors, for example, is expected to rise by a decent 13% over the decade, while the need for mental health counselors is expected to receive a boost of almost 30%, according to the statistics. That said, counselor jobs will be difficult to get in suburban areas compared to urban and rural areas, according to BLS.
Counseling jobs can be very hard to find due to their varied nature and working environments. Harrison Barnes, founder and CEO of CounselingCrossing, says, “In this market, it is extremely hard to get a job with a recruiter, and recruiters typically work with very few companies. Job openings that are not widely known or publicized are the easiest jobs to get.”
CounselingCrossing was launched to help counselors sort out the opportunities that they may not find out about otherwise. Unlike other job boards, the site focuses solely on counseling-related jobs, and it doesn’t charge employers to post jobs.
According to Barnes, the most popular searches on the site thus far have been:

guidance counselor jobs

“There are an astonishing number of counseling job openings out there. We want to find them all,” Barnes adds.
CounselingCrossing charges $29.95 a month to view its job openings. As part of the site’s launch special, however, CounselingCrossing is offering a free, seven-day trial to allow job seekers to familiarize themselves with the service.
