Addiction Counselor Jobs
Someone working in an addiction counselor job provides direct and indirect services to clients experiencing chemical abuse and dependency issues as well as related problems. An addiction counselor job entails working under the supervision of the juvenile coordinator. An addiction counselor formulates treatment plans and evaluates clients’ progress through the phases of the Drug Court Treatment Program. An addiction counselor job also entails providing individual and group counseling as well as case management services to clients enrolled in the Drug Court Treatment Program. Addiction counselors also provide appropriate referrals to various social and governmental agencies, and they also have to perform urinalysis testing as needed and maintain clinical records and documentation on all clients.
Knowledge of basic counseling techniques is required for an addiction counselor job. The incumbent should understand drug abuse issues and recent research regarding effective counseling interventions. The abilities to work effectively with others and work independently without close supervision are also required. Basic computer skills and a bachelor’s degree in a related field are preferred for addiction counselor jobs.
