Admitting Counselor Jobs
An admitting counselor assumes responsibility and accountability for the registration, insurance verification, and financial arrangements of patients. An admitting counselor must support an organizational culture of service excellence and practice the service excellence standards with all customer groups. Admitting counselors assist in ensuring that the pre-certification, re-certification, and concurrent review processes are performed completely, accurately, and on time. An admitting counselor develops and implements communication mechanisms that promote the accurate and timely reimbursement of cases. An admitting counselor contacts patients to verify the given patient’s demographic and insurance information, and to coordinate this information with nursing case management.
Admitting counselor positions require a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of one year of job-related experience is recommended for an admitting counselor job. Computer experience is also desirable for this position. Intense concentration, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required for admitting counselor jobs.
