Assistant Counselor Jobs
Assistant counselor jobs require the supervision of clients and teens in recovery, monitoring rule compliance, transporting clients to appointments, monitoring medication, and answering phones and performing crisis intervention. An ideal candidate for an assistant counselor job should have an energetic personality, a strong work ethic, and a love for working with people and kids. An assistant counselor is responsible for assisting genetic counselors in their role of providing patient care services. Assistant counselors provide support to the department's genetic counselors by helping with patient letters, EPIC scheduling, and obtaining patient consent and enrollment in research studies. Assistant counselors assist the clinical manager in tracking genetic counselor/patient visits and billing.
An associate's degree in a related field of study is required for assistant counselor jobs. Knowledge of office procedures, organization, and correspondence formatting is required. Knowledge of EPIC is highly preferable for assistant counselor jobs. Excellent computer skills are preferred for assistant counselor jobs. Assistant counselors should have telephone skills, people skills, and the ability to work in a team environment for this job. A minimum of three years of secretarial experience in a medical setting or other related field is preferred for assistant counselor jobs.
