Enrollment Counselor Jobs
An enrollment counselor advises undergraduate and graduate students regarding admissions and degree completion requirements, in addition to enrolling students for the given university's graduate, undergraduate, and certificate programs. An enrollment counselor attends staff and committee meetings and cultivates liaison relationships with instructors and student services departments. An enrollment counselor participates in professional and co-curricular activities and uses and keeps abreast of advanced counseling methods, including the use of current and future technologies, to support student success and career objectives. Enrollment counselors also develop academic plans for degree or certificate completion by following standardized university guidelines and procedures.
An enrollment counselor job requires a master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, or educational counseling, or the possession of a credential authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline at the community college level. Enrollment counselors should have experience equivalent to at least one year of full-time or two years of part-time community college counseling. An enrollment counselor should also have experience in developing and implementing academic support programs for at-risk student populations, in addition to the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
