Outreach Counselor Jobs
An outreach counselor conducts one-on-one and group outreach presentations to recipients; assists other outreach counselors with daily management duties; presents program education and enrollment options to recipients; presents managed care options to recipients and assists them in using their health care plans; maintains positive relationships with county staff, state agencies, community groups, and recipients; completes direct data entry into designated internal systems in accordance with project policies and procedures; and conducts telephone calls in accordance with project policies and procedures. An outreach counselor is responsible for reporting outcomes on a daily/weekly basis. An outreach counselor completes all data-entry functions to reflect customer activity/transactions and responds to customer phone inquiries in a prompt, courteous, and concise manner, documenting all customer encounters in clear and concise logs.
An outreach counselor job requires a high school diploma or equivalent certification. A bachelor's degree in social work is preferred. A solid background in health care, human services, or customer service and knowledge of government health and social services programs is also preferred for outreach counselor jobs. Outreach counselors should have experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse, as well as disadvantaged, populations in a courteous and effective manner.
