Overnight Counselor Jobs
An overnight counselor is responsible for providing staff support, directing client care, facilitating non-clinical and/or psychosocial interventions, and providing shift coverage. This position is designed for individuals who have an interest in an overnight work schedule and who want to gain or strengthen their experience working with children and young adults. An overnight counselor's work includes children-asleep-monitoring; house organization and preparations for the next activity day; and wake up, hygiene, breakfast delivery, and school farewell activities. In addition, the role requires occasional one-on-one nocturnal counseling, on-going documentation, daily medication delivery, routine minor clerical tasks, and other related tasks. An overnight counselor performs medication, administration, crisis management, cleaning, filing, and other duties, closely supervising students and ensuring their health and safety during the overnight hours.
An overnight counselor job requires a bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related specialty or two years of experience in the provision of health services. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel is also required. Overnight counselors must be physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to implement all medical, safety, and emergency procedures. Overnight counselors must also have basic cooking, home care, and management abilities.
