Sales Counselor Jobs
A sales counselor job involves inside/outside sales. A sales counselor meets with families to discuss prearrangements relating to cemetery property, communicates sales and contractual information, and closes sales to maintain and improve occupancy levels. A sales counselor routinely reviews databases to identify and follow up on leads from all sources, maintaining positive and understanding relationships. Sales counselors close leads generated through media, direct mail, special events, and referral sources, implementing senior prospecting activities which are planned and coordinated with the executive director, marketing director, and regional sales director. Sales counselors identify innovative events and methods to increase visitation for targeted groups and to assist prospective residents, their family members, or advisors in the decision-making process by understanding their needs and how to meet and exceed their expectations.
A sales counselor position requires an associate's degree or the equivalent in psychology, sociology, or marketing. A bachelor's degree is preferred. One year of progressive experience in real estate, health care, or sales, including experience in such areas as promotions and public relations, is also necessary. A sales counselor should also be able to build effective relationships, close sales, and have excellent presentation skills.
