Security Counselor Jobs
A security counselor monitors resident behavior, maintaining an accurate head count, transporting residents, signing residents in and out of the facility, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal corrections codes. Security counselors supervise all resident movements within the assigned unit/area, report resident accidents or injuries to a supervisor, conduct daily facility inspections, search resident sleeping quarters, and perform body searches as necessary. A security counselor uses therapeutic interventions, containment techniques, and security policies and procedures sufficient to effectively deal with altercations, confrontations, and other crisis situations that might occur. A security counselor must remain posted at the assigned security area to maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
A security counselor position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least two years of experience in a relevant job. A security counselor should have knowledge of personal computers, and basic keyboard skills are a definite plus.
