Staff Counselor Jobs

A staff counselor job involves responsibility for the personal and spiritual well-being of a staff. Other duties of a staff counselor include crisis intervention; group counseling, outreach, and consultation; serving on university committees; participating in appropriate university activities; participating in appropriate community, state, and national activities; and taking an active role in the overall operation and function of the given center. A staff counselor responds to letters received from radio listeners and ministry constituents, giving priority to those involving threats of suicide, spousal/child abuse, incest, alcohol and/or drug related problems, and traumatic marital situations. Staff counselors provide social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual opportunities for individual growth and for the building of community.
A staff counselor job requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Staff counselors must have good written and oral communication skills and organizational skills, and be computer literate and detail-oriented. Staff counselors should have demonstrated counseling skills, interest in and experience working with people, experience in outreach programs, consulting skills, and competence in the development and implementation of programs designed to facilitate community growth.
