Store Counselor Jobs

Store counselors work within stores to counsel consumers regarding different products and provide recommendations and product information to both consumers and retail associates. Store counselors suggest appropriate products and answer consumer questions about all of the store's product lines. Store counselors represent the company as a primary resource for consumers and may be required to compare and contrast the company's products with those of other establishments. Store counselors are responsible for merchandising the company's products, including setting up seasonal displays; restocking shelves, racks, and displays; cleaning and arranging products; repairing or removing damaged items; re-labeling products; and installing and maintaining point of purchase materials. Store counselors must also complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner (i.e., time sheets, surveys, etc.).
Store counselors must have a high school diploma or its equivalent; having previous retail merchandising experience is preferred. Store counselors must have strong initiative, be self-directed, and have the ability to work with little or no supervision. Store counselors should have good written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and good organization and planning skills.
