Description

Humana has an exciting new Substance Abuse Counselor opportunity to support the state of Florida! We need someone that takes great pride and enjoy in counseling and supporting those in need. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work closely with internal and external referrals needing Humana's guidance and support around substance abuse issues. Currently this position will be done 100% telephonically due to the current health environment.

Responsibilities

Below are some expected responsibilities of this brand new opportunity:


Assesses and evaluates member's needs and requirements to achieve and/or maintain optimal wellness state by guiding members/families toward and facilitate interaction with resources appropriate for the care and wellbeing of members.
Will employ a variety of strategies, approaches and techniques to manage a member's physical, environmental and psychosocial health issues.

Identifies and resolves barriers that hinder effective care and ensures patient is progressing towards desired outcomes by continuously monitoring patient care through assessments and/or evaluations.
Support the agency's mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony


Required Qualifications


Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
A current, valid, and unrestricted license to include: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychologist (PhD), Registered Nurse (RN) or other Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, CAP (Certified Addiction Counselor)
At least 1-3 years of clinical experience in an alcohol or other drugs (AOD) or mental health setting
Experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy models


Work at Home Requirements


Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) is required
A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information


Preferred Qualifications


Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Knowledge of recovery support systems and 12-Step programs and Smart Recovery preferred
