Assistant or Associate Professor Position at the Graduate Level

The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy in the College of Education and Human Services is seeking applicants for a tenure track, core faculty member in the Counseling MA/EdS programs. Core faculty throughout the department are expected to contribute to the collective mission, working collaboratively as colleagues serving programs in counseling and school counseling, marriage and family therapy, counseling psychology, psychological studies, and school psychology.

The department has a long-standing commitment to train highly skilled, socially conscious, and reflective professionals. This includes training Professional Counselors and School Counselors who are multiculturally competent, dedicated to advancing social justice, and prepared to meet the challenges of working in complex urban settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Additional Responsibilities: Ability to provide advanced practice supervision is strongly desired. Assigned courses will be dependent on departmental needs and candidate expertise. Additional duties may include advising, research mentoring, and clinical supervision of students. University, college, department, and program service is expected. Further, we seek an individual who works collaboratively, collegially, and respectfully to promote the mission of the department and programs. The successful candidate will be part of the program review for potential accreditation.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or Counseling Psychology. It is required that candidates clearly identify as a counselor and/or counseling psychologist;

• Evidence of achievement or potential for scholarly achievement;

• Licensure or eligibility for licensure and/or school counselor certification in New Jersey;

• Commitment to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles across all course work;

• Evidence of experience in or potential for work with diverse students and communities.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with background/expertise in school counseling.

Salary and Appointment: A full-time (9-month) tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level is available. Salary range is competitive. Summer teaching opportunities are generally available. Our historic, intimate South Orange campus provides a starting point for the numerous opportunities for recreation, entertainment, education, and culture in the immediate area as well as in New York City, which is only 14 miles to our northeast.
