IDD Psychological Examiner I

(AACOG)

Performs routine (journey-level) psychological testing and evaluation in order to establish eligibility for state services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder or related conditions; Work involves psychological testing, programming, diagnosing, reporting, and research; Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Administers and interprets psychological instruments, and conducts psychological assessments and diagnosis; Conducts training programs; Interviews clients/families, recommends treatment, and prepares reports; Prepares eligibility determination reports; Prepares behavioral analyses, and designs and monitors behavior modification and skill acquisition plans; Participates in research projects and program evaluations; Participates in conferences for diagnosis and treatment planning;

Assists in the development and implementation of individualized program plans; May testify in probate, family, or criminal court cases; May assist in conducting research and disseminating findings; May assist with quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to psychological service provisions; May plan and implement psychological activities; May review reports for completeness and accuracy. Knowledge of psychology and related disciplines; and of psychological tests, measurements, and treatment techniques and practices; Skill in interviewing, and in the use of a computer and applicable software; Ability to interpret diagnostic interviews and test data, to conduct individual and group psychotherapy, to analyze behavioral deficits, to develop plans for implementing and monitoring rehabilitation activities in skill acquisition and behavior management, and to communicate effectively; Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Desired Degree/Job Experience:

One (1) year experience in counseling or psychological work; Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a master’s degree in psychology or a related degree; Prefer competency in bilingual assessment.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure:

Must have a current, full, unencumbered license in the state of Texas as a medical doctor or licensed psychologist; or licensed psychological associate, licensed specialist in school psychology, provisionally licensed psychologist with: successful completion of graduate coursework in individual intellectual assessment, supervised experience or successful completion of graduate coursework in adaptive behavior assessment and, one (1) year of employment, internship, or practicum in the field of intellectual disability. Must be proficient in administering and interpreting psychological test instruments; Must be capable of preparing comprehensive reports; Must maintain licensure including meeting annual CEU training requirements set by TSBEP; Must meet criteria for Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) “Certified Authorized Provider” in an exempt agency.

After completing a 90-day probationary period with AACOG, the employee will be eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

This position is a Pay Grade 17. Salary commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position.
