The Disability Support Services Counselor's function is to assist in ensuring programmatic and physical accessibility for students with disabilities. This position works closely with students to provide academic advising and determine reasonable accommodations based on their disability documentation. The counselor also works closely with faculty and staff in providing these accommodations.
Requirements:
M.A. degree in Counseling, Special Education or related field.
Knowledge of laws protecting persons with disabilities such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504.
Experience assessing students' documentation of disability and prescribing appropriate accommodations, preferably on the college level.
Experience providing advocacy and counseling to persons with disabilities.
