Youth Residential Specialist
Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life and start your career in the criminal justice system? Community Solutions is seeking a dedicated candidate to join our team at the Coventry House as a Youth Residential Specialist. Youth Residential Specialists Ensure safety by conducting searches for contraband, supervising Client visitations, and supervising Client movement in and out of the facility. In this position you will be a role model to the clients while providing a safe environment, facilitating counseling, advocacy, and support.
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 7 am - 3 pm.
Starting wage is $18.50 per hour.
$750 sign on stipend
In addition to competitive pay and benefits, employees have an opportunity to receive up to an additional $694.50 stipend per month, maximum, calculated based on the total number of hours worked in the month through the Rhode Island Wage Stabilization program.
Community Solutions Inc. (CSI) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the responsible citizenship, accountability, and well-being of individuals and families involved, or at risk of involvement, in the child welfare, juvenile justice, or criminal justice system. Since CSI’s founding in 1962, it has been a pioneer in the community-based service. We have been delivering supervision, treatment, and comprehensive individualized services to help clients interact more effectively in their communities and become productive citizens. Using this plan, we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 9 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
Provide client supervision and complete all required program operations.
Uphold all Agency policies and procedures pertaining to the safety and security of clients, Agency property, and the community.
Provide update on any client issues and incidents.
Verify all physical items being passed between shifts.
Ensure security of facility keys.
Conduct common area, room searches and perimeter searches as assigned and document results.
Conduct metal detector searches on all clients entering the facility and confiscate any contraband found. Document results.
Complete house counts in 15-minute intervals and document Client movement in and out of the facility.
Transport Clients as needed in a Company vehicle.
Conduct monthly emergency drills.
Collect and secure urine samples for screening.
Administer Client medication.
A High School Diploma, plus experience in the social service or criminal justice field, or BA in relevant field of study.
Education may be substituted with relevant experience on a one year for one year basis.
Able to arrive 15 minutes before shift for shift change, may also be required to stay later if there is not sufficient coverage.
Strong attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license.
COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test prior to start.
RI BCI, Federal Fingerprint Background Check, CANTS Clearance, and Motor Vehicle Background Check.
BENEFITS:
$750 sign on stipend paid after 3 months.
Two (2) weeks' vacation accrued within the first year. Three (3) weeks accrual after 1 year of service.
Sick time (7 days accrual basis), floating holiday time (4 days/year).
