Job Description:

BASIC PURPOSE: Develops and oversees practicum and internship placements and experiences for students in the undergraduate Psychology major and the Clinical Counseling Psychology graduate program in support of the mission of the University.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Works independently and with the Clinical Counseling Psychology Program Director and Psychology Department Chairperson to develop and nurture partnerships with mental healthcare organizations to facilitate practicum and internship placements for graduate and undergraduate students.

2. Conducts orientation sessions and works one-on-one with students to identify appropriate placement sites based on students' interests and licensing requirements for graduate students.

3. Ensures field sites are safe working environments and on-site supervisors hold the appropriate credentials and understand supervision requirements.

4. Communicates regularly with each student and on-site supervisor.

5. Initiates and oversees mid-semester evaluation and end-of-semester final evaluation of student performance by on-site supervisor.

6. Addresses any issues that may arise with student performance or the placement site in a timely manner and in consultation with the appropriate faculty member and program director or chairperson.

Requirements:

* Master's degree in a counseling or psychology related area required, doctoral degree in related field preferred;

* Licensure and 3 years post-licensure experience in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field strongly preferred;

* Must have knowledge of current LMHC licensing requirements;

* Strong written & verbal communication skills;

* Must possess interpersonal skills to network, foster, and maintain relationships with community stakeholders;

* Ability to develop community-wide partnerships; establish internship placements;

* Proficiency in the use of technology, including computers; use of software is required, such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Zoom;

* Must have excellent organizational & time management skills to independently establish a work schedule, manage practicum and internship students at their placement sites;

* Must be able to problem-solve and manage conflict when necessary;

* Must be able to show sensitivity and empathy towards students who struggle emotionally during their internships and suggest referrals for support and help when necessary;

* Must have a valid driver's license & ability to conduct off-campus site visits;

* Must be willing to contribute actively to the University's mission as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University;
